Associate Professor Nancy Yen-wen Cheng, AIA, teaches architectural design and computer methods. Her research focuses on how digital tools shape the design process. She is currently studying how designers can use mobile tools and digital sketching to understand environments. She has developed international and in-house Web collaborations for sharing design approaches, technical solutions and cultural insights.
Her papers on digital media and design communication have been presented at conferences in Asia, Europe and North America. She is the 2004 Chair of the AIA Technology in Architectural Practice group, an Editor for the International Journal of Architectural Computing and a former officer of the Association of Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA). She regularly sits on paper review panels for academic research groups.
Prof. Cheng previously taught architecture at the University of Hong Kong and worked for Boston Architectural firms such as Kallmann McKinnell and Wood and Raphael Moneo.
